no piebald and skewbald are all about the colour...it also gets complicated with the american language, a "falbe" is buckskin in america but for us its a dun, then there is chestnut and sorrel... In germany you say "braun" we say "bay" you say "dunkelbraun" we say brown....very confusing!!!
color differentiations in the German language, there are infinitely many. is at any one basic color variation is the light-dark, come to terms for the between common tones, as for example in red: bright red, fire red, burgundy, blood red, pale red fox red, or green: brilliant green, bottle green, reseda green yellow-green, olive green, and so on in other colors. has actually in horse already led to errors German is also not easy for German, but nice .....
German is sooooo difficult, not only colours but der, die, das and when thats not hard enough there comes dem and den ...then du and Sie, we have the and you, much easier!!! i understand nothing and always just guess!!
yes, that is the live in, one is always born in the wrong country and has learned the wrong language. all the better if people can speak anyway, and if it is gibberish or a show of hands, grinning
at least we can agree that a good horse is just a good horse ...... no matter what color or drawing ....
I remember when my son when learning english carped about having to drill the irregular verbs - I just asked him about german and what regular verbs he knows in his mother language ...... he found non.
Can you imagine the problems i have with my childrens homework?? They get good marks in english but say the teacher always makes mistakes...i wouldnt like to be their teacher with my two in the class!!
I listened to several teacher speaking english -- the ones who unsually get it right are the ones who stayed in England or USA for at least several months -- practice, practice, practice! The other part of our teaching staff just try to cram the vocabulary down our kids with the result that most of them learn to hate the language.
Yes i think that being in the country is such a help....although i still have problems:-)) My children speak better german than english even though i ONLY speak english with them, but they have german friends and school and so it is their first language...of course they are fluent in english too. they have it easy...for kids it is no problem!!!
